Frequently Asked Questions
When is the best time to have a newborn session?
The ideal time is within the first 7-10 days. They tend to be very sleepy and chilled making it much easier for posing, but we fully appreciate that every labour is different and sometimes its not possible to do a shoot that quick after birth. So, whenever you wish to book your baby in for their first ever shoot, whether that's 7 days, or a few weeks, just get in touch.
What's the best time for our newborn session?
We work around you, so once you figured out the schedule that best works for you just let us know when you book.
How long is the session?
We don't like to put pressure on you or your little one, so we don't really have a strict limit. We would suggest allowing 1-3 hours.
This means that we can take plenty of breaks to keep your little one happy and content.
What should my baby wear?
We imagine you have tons of new adorable outfits you love, but there's probably not that many that actually fit, so we tend to say less is more in a newborn shoot.
Neutral outfits work well, simple baby grows and vests, woolly hats, plain knitted clothes, and nappy covers are all great too. We recommend avoiding clothing with text or graphics too (they go out of date so quickly, and we want your photos to be timeless!)
What should we wear?
We recommend keeping it simple, and similar to what we recommend your baby wears. Plain, neutral outfits without text or graphics to keep the photos timeless.
Do you use props?
We don't carry around props or novelty outfits as we prefer the more natural style and look. We may bring some posing blocks, but more often than not we will just use things you already have at home, like towels and blankets.
What room do you recommend using in our home for the session?
We're flexible, but the best option is the room with the best natural light. Don't worry though, we carry our own lighting systems too if we need them. Using your bed can be like having a big canvas to work on, but we do recommend putting on a plain duvet set. We also love the sofa! It's somewhere you can all be super comfy and snuggled up together as your little family.
